This course introduces graduate ELT students to historical and contemporary theoretical perspectives on second language (L2) acquisition by focusing on a range of issues in the fields of second language acquisition (SLA), Teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL), and applied linguistics (AL). The graduate students will also become involved in reading, discussing and presenting various book chapters and classic/contemporary research articles in the field of SLA. The course further intends to develop the graduate candidates’ academic knowledge and analytical and critical thinking and research skills as they write a detailed/up-to-date literature review on a topic of their choosing within the field of SLA, EFL or Applied linguistics.
