This course investigates the use of metaphors in architectural representation which focuses on both sensory and symbolic interpretations found in drawings, models, photorealistic rendered images, and built environments. Emphasis is placed on understanding how conceptual metaphors shape architectural meaning by linking abstract ideas with spatial and visual elements. Through key theories of semiotics and aesthetics, students critically analyse how metaphors construct meaning in architectural narratives. The course includes comparative studies between conceptual images and realized buildings, encouraging students to reflect on perception, representation, and interpretation. Final outputs include visual analyses, statistical studies, and submission and presentation of academic papers.
